Verification is the process of proving that you own the property that you claim to own. Search Console needs to verify ownership because verified owners have access to sensitive Google Search data for a site, and can affect a site's presence and behavior on Google Search and other Google properties. A verified owner can grant full or view access to other people.
You only need to authenticate with the main domain (non-www), the subdomains and subfolders will also be automatically authenticated.
Verify domain names with Google Search Console in just 5 steps:
Step 1: Go to Google Search Console -> Search property -> Add property
Step 2: Choose domain and enter your domain name
Step 3: Copy the TXT value
Step 4: Go to Domain management page -> Manage DNS -> Add the record
Note: Enter the values in the record as follows:
Host: @
Type: TXT
Value: TXT value (Copy in step 3)
Select Add Record to finish.
Step 5: Verify the domain name with Google Search Console
